Global warming is presenting new challenges to agriculture and in particular to the cultivation of grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.) for wine production. Over the past decade, numerous researchers have been studying vineyard management techniques that can help grape growers to mitigate different climate change induced issues, which usually leads to a decline in yield and a decay in grape quality. In this book are reported the findings of the experiments conducted by Gianluca Allegro during his doctoral research, in which he addressed the effects of climate change adaptation strategies on berry composition, with particular attention to the polyphenolic compounds that are crucial for the sensory characteristics of high-quality wines.

Gianluca Allegro is an assistant professor at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna. He has been working in the research group of Viticulture since 2004 and his studies have been focused on different topics such as the adaptability of grapevine cultivation to climate change, the phenolic maturity in the last phases of ripening and the impact of mechanization on yield and berry composition.
